Born in Valenciennes, France, in 1969. He graduated at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon, in 1990. He obtained his DEA in 1991 in the same Grande Ecole under the supervision of Prof. André Collet and Prof. Joëlle Vidal with a M.Sc. thesis entitled: "Study of the N-amination of chiral secondary amines with N-methoxycarbonyloxaziridine". He obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Birmingham (UK) in February 1997 under the supervision of Prof. J. Fraser Stoddart with a thesis entitled "Self-assembly and self-organization of pi-pi interacting compounds". He then joined Prof. André Collet's research group and worked on the synthesis and separation of the enantiomers of CHFClBr. At the end of 1997, he joined Prof. Tomás Torres' group in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid as a Marie Curie research fellow. He held a Ramon y Cajal fellowship from 2001 to 2005. In 2006 he was appointed Assitant Professor and in 2008 Associate Professor (Profesor Titular) in the same University.

His main research interests include the synthesis, supramolecular aspects, nanotechnological and photovoltaic applications of subphthalocyanines.
